| Philly Saxophonist Andrew Neu - A Musical Voice on the Rise
Sweet sounds from Philly have been making their way across the nation. With the release of IN CLEAR VIEW, Andrew Neu has moved to the forefront of jazz. Rave reviews from the national press for his technical expertise and high profile concerts with the legendary Bobby Caldwell have shown that Andrew Neu is indeed a Philly star on the rise.
By blending a unique mix of jazz, R&B, and Latin music, Andrew Neu delivers a fresh, new sound to the contemporary jazz scene. In a market with an abundance of great musicians, it is difficult to get heard. But sometimes you come across an artist that just stands out from the pack and grabs your attention. Andrew Neu, a saxophonist from Philadelphia, is just that person.
Andrew is well respected throughout the industry for his work as a saxophonist, arranger, composer and recording artist. Whether he's in concert with The Philly Pops, a sideman with national headliners, or performing with his own band, Andrew's musicianship and engaging stage presence are sure to get the audience on their feet.
Andrew has shared the stage with Sir Elton John, Patti Labelle, Bobby Caldwell, Mellissa Manchester, Mel Torme, The Four Tops, and The Temptations among others. He has also recorded with Sister Sledge, Manhattan Transfer, and jazz legend Buddy DeFranco. Another highlight was when Andrew was asked to perform a concert in tribute to Grover Washington, Jr. at the Grover Washington Jr. Middle School. "Grover was one of my biggest influences when I was learning to play, and it was a tremendous thrill to be able to honor him with his family in attendance", says Andrew.
Accomplishments
Fueled by the success of his first album, INSPIRE, Andrew released his second CD, IN CLEAR VIEW, produced by bassist Brian Bromberg. It features performances by Jeff Lorber, Kevin Toney, Dave Weckl, Vinnie Colaiuta, Gerald Veasley, 'Doc' Gibbs, and the Bright and Tight Horns.
The tracks Wine and Come to Me have both consistently made the list on Music Choice's Top 10, reflecting the great response to the CD "In Clear View". This latest project reached # 3 on the Smoothjazz.com Smooth Indie star top 50 and Wine reached the top 20 on the Smooth Jazz Indicator Charts. Wine was also chosen as the featured download for radio station KTWV "The Wave" in LA shortly after its release.
He has performed at the Newport, Bermuda, St. Croix, Mellon and Lake George jazz festivals and is a voting member of NARAS and the Grammy Awards.
